Blog Intro

Have you heard of Usborne books? They are an excellent resource of books for kids of all ages. They are fun and engaging and the book I am going to review is one of my favorite Usborne books!

“There’s a Mouse about the House” is a story about a mouse who is desperate for some cheese. He travels through the house by going through slots on each page that lead him to a new misadventure around every turn. There is a path to follow so that children are engaged through the whole book, moving the mouse along. Included are flaps for extra fun and colorful imagery. Both my 2 year-old and my almost 5 year-old love reading it and also moving the mouse along the path without reading it at all. It is engaging and sensory-friendly and can also be a lesson of learning to understand each other. Is the mouse trying to scare the people in the story? No! He just wants some cheese.

Although I do think that the pictures are a good illustration of the interaction needed for this book, this video clip does an even better job of showing how interactive it is.
