Respiratory Virus Affecting Kids
My hubby just sent me a news link about an unidentified Respiratory Virus that has been sickening kids across 10 states so far. They are saying hundreds of children across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia have been seen with symptoms of the virus. It starts out like the common cold but then takes a more serious turn leading to hospitalization and can even be deadly. They said children with breathing difficulties (like asthma) are especially at risk, but anyone can get it. If your child has a cold, you should watch for trouble breathing or wheezing. The disease hasn’t been officially identified but officials suspect a rare respiratory virus called human enterovirus 68.
