Here’s a fun math equation for you: Balloons + paint = FUN!

This is so simple (yet obviously messy) and is a completely different way of painting than just using fingers or a paintbrush. What kid does like to paint and especially, what kid doesn’t love balloons?!

I blew the balloons up to different sizes so the kids could experiment with how big the paint blobs would be. They didn’t seem to have a preference for size. I also liked that they could have a designated balloon for the three paint colors we had out (though that didn’t last long).

I sat them down and told them what they should do then they went to town. No other directions were needed and I’m so pleased with how it turned out.

I was surprised at how long it took for Maddy to start putting paint on her hands. Oliver refuses to and wanted his hands washed right away when he was done with the balloons. It’s crazy how different these two can be!

I love these little handprints and wasn’t even planning on having this outcome!

See how proud they are?! This was just a super fun, super fast, and easily replicate-able activity that I loved.

Have you ever had your kids paint with unconventional objects? What is your favorite thing to paint with?

Paint away, friends!

Much love,
