Sensory Saturday: Crumbled Leaf Artwork
Today’s sensory activity include a few parts to it and the kids were involved in each part. I enjoy that much more than prepping by myself and the kids feel more engaged when they are involved at each step.
It was a beautiful fall day and the kids gathered some fallen leaves. There aren’t a ton on the ground yet and they weren’t as dry as I was hoping, but it still worked just fine.
We continued walking around the neighborhood to find different kinds and colors of leaves. It got the kids out walking and exploring without it being too chaotic.
Then I had the kids stomp on the bag of leaves to crumble them. They LOVED this part. 🙂
We then painted and squeezed glue onto a piece of construction paper and then added the leaf bits to them. The stomping didn’t get them as small as I was hoping so we had to hand crumble as well, which was actually fun!
The artwork may not be awesome, but this activity was great! I may try it in about a month when the leaves are drier and there are more options. This was a great first try though!
Have you tried any activities with dried leaves? I would love to get some more ideas to try with this kids! Comment below with some ideas and we will try them out.
Until next time.
