Walk to School Day

Today was International Walk to School Day!

We drove (because the walk from our house would have included a busy highway with no crosswalk) but we parked a few blocks away and walked from there.

It was actually kind of amazing to take my son to school and not see the long line of cars waiting to drop kids off. Children were walking in with their parents and being greeted by police officers and firefighters (which they all thought was awesome!). My son’s school was also handing out pedometers  and a healthy-ish fruit snack, so all the kids were super-excited about that!

All in all, I think it was a great idea to help raise awareness about little ways to inject a little exercise into your family’s day.
